Functional purpose of the equipment
Flow cytometer makes it possible to characterise cells in heterogenic biological samples. The instrument is also used for dead cell detection, studies of mechaisms of cell death, cell cycle phase, immune cell activation etc.
Motivation of the need for equipment
At the current level of scientific studies it is mandatory to know the characteristics of cell populations (e.g. immune cells, tumur cells). Otherwise it is impossible to confirm the adequacy of biological sample for achieving specific scientific goals.
